TSBDC - Workshops & Training

The Tennessee Small Business Development Centers (TSBDC) offer a variety of business workshops, seminars, classes and training sessions, most of them free or low cost, and usually on subjects of interest to almost all small business owners or those considering small business ownership.

Pre-business Planning for New Small Business Owners - a free workshop most Tuesdays for those considering small business ownership or who are in business for the first time.

After that, a Basic Owner's Success Series:
How to Launch or Takeover a Small Business - which includes:

• Choosing a Name and Structure
• Covering Tax, License and Insurance Issues
• Understanding Accounting & Finances

How to Prepare and Write a Small Business Plan - which includes:

• Reviewing the Importance of Planning
• Creating Your Objectives and Strategies
• Outlining and Writing the Business Plan
• Understanding Budgeting and Forecasting
• Developing Loan and Equity Proposals

How to Plan and Manage Small Business Finances - which includes:

• Surveying Financial Markets and Needs
• Reviewing Accounting and Recordkeeping
• Setting up Basic Financial Statements
• Analyzing Your Numbers
• Understanding Budgeting and Forecasting

How to Market and Promote a Small Business - which includes:

• Understanding Your Product and Your Customer
• Setting Image, Reputation, and Market Objectives
• Developing Sales, Service, and Promotion Strategies
• Creating Communications, Advertising and Publicity
• Adjusting to Change

Additional workshops on Small Business Risk Management and Special Federal Programs for Small Business have also been scheduled.
